60-yr-old Kerala labourer turns model, receives love from internet

Sixty-year-old daily wage labourer from Kerala Mammikka is a social media star. Spotted in lungi and shirt on most days in Kozhikode, Mammikka had a complete makeover. Now, he is going fiercely viral on the internet where he is seen flaunting his new ‘model’ look, thanks to photographer Shareek Vayalil.

Shareek completed a promotional photoshoot with Mammikka and posted it on social media. Netizens took note of the ‘new model’ and welcomed him with encouraging comments. Before the photoshoot, Mammikka got a complete makeover at a salon. Shareek made him model for a wedding suit company that he owns.

In the video, which Shareek posted, Mammikka can be seen wearing a brown suit and tie and posing with an iPad. Netizens compared him with actor Vinayakan, who majorly works in the Malayalam film industry. While most commented with fire emojis, one user wrote, “Great man! Real style n fashion irrespective of age.”

After his newfound fame, Mammikka is open to modelling. In fact, Mammikka now has an Instagram page where you will find the daily wager in his lungi and shirt too. Also, the makeover pictures are also posted.

In December last year, the story of a homeless Brazilian man, João Coelho Guimarães, went viral too. Guimarães had a haircut and makeover after he met Alessandro Lobo, who owns a men’s fashion store and barber service.

In fact, when Lobo asked him if he was hungry or wanted something to eat, Guimarães refused. However, he asked if his barber service could trim his beard. “That was when we decided to help him in a different way, providing a day of beauty for him,” Lobo told Universo Online.

After grooming Guimarães’ beard, hair and moustache, the businessman gifted him a pair of trousers, three shirts, a jacket and new shoes.

His cleanup photos were widely circulated on social media. He was separated from his family for more than 10 years and used to live on the street. His family had assumed he was dead but recognized Guimarães when Lobo posted his ‘after’ and ‘before’ pictures online.
