Kolkata: Bengali actress Rupa Dutta, who was arrested on Saturday from the 45th Kolkata International Book Fair on charges of alleged pickpocketing, had hit headlines in 2020. During that time, she had wrongly accused popular Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual harassment.
It was reported that she had a conversation with another person who shared the same first name with the Gangs of Wasseypur director, but accused Kashyap of harassing her. She even shared screenshots of her conversation with another person on social media.

On Twitter, she even said that actress Payal Ghosh is right in accusing Kashyap and that the filmmaker should be punished for the same. She also wrote that the Manmarziyaan director takes drugs and supplies it to other artists. Rupa also demanded NCB probe on Kashyap as well in connection to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Reportedly, Rupa made her debut in Bengali films with Ankush-starrer Kellafate in 2010. She was arrested by the police at the Kolkata Book Fair with several purses containing Rs 65,760 in cash.

Rupa’s Twitter bio says she has been a part of TV shows such as Jai Maa Vaishnodevi. Meanwhile, she identified herself as the Karni Sena West Bengal state president.
The actress also mocked Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee after TMC failed to open an account in the Goa election.
