Kolkata is a huge city and needs constant police vigil. For this, the men in uniform need to keep moving from place to place — more so, with reports of an increasing number of crimes coming in from various parts of the city each day. Recently, Kolkata Police added a number of bold new Mahindra TUV300s to its existing fleet of cars. This will increase their mobility and also help them keep the city’s safety and security under control.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Ltd, part of the $20.7-billion Mahindra Group, announced that it had recently handed over 92 Mahindra TUV300 SUVs to Kolkata Police. Of these, 58 were flagged off on August 29. Kolkata Police is among 13 other police departments to add Mahindra TUV300s to their fleet.

Customized for cops
These Mahindra TUV300s are customized according to the requirements of Kolkata Police. This seven-seat vehicle is powered by a 1.5-litre m Hawk diesel engine that puts out 100PS of power with 240Nm of torque. The TUV300, thanks to its compact dimensions, is becoming increasingly popular among government and private sector fleets alike.

Mahindra SUVs have a long-standing association with the police forces in India, with such vehicles as the Bolero, Scorpio and the TUV300. The TUV300 is the only sub-4M compact SUV that comes with a 7-seat layout, in addition to its bold, true blue SUV design. In fact, multiple police forces are now inducting the TUV300 and the TUV300 Plus, a 9-seater, in their fleets for patrolling.
