Commemorating the Visionary Monk of India on his 158th Birth Anniversary

To mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, every year 12th Januray is celebrated as the National Youth Day. 2021 marks the 158th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Swamiji believed in the pursuit of honesty and truth under every circumstance. This is why Great men like William Jones, German scientist Hermann von Helmholtz and Indian Scientist JagadIsh Chandra Bose considered Swami Vivekanada as their guide.

He was educated at a western style University and he had the opportunity of learning western philosophy. He imbibed Christianity and the western philosophy and took the Vedanta philosophy top the west and transformed Hinduism.

Swami Vivekananda believed that “Science is the search for truth in the external world and spirituality is the search for truth in the internal world”. He was the one who introduced the verses of Vedas to the modern India and traveled to villages with globe and lantern to preach modern science to the youth which is why he is regarded as a youth icon even today.

Also back then during Vivekanada’s time Hindu priests were prohibited from drinking tea which is regarded as the national drink of India. He is regarded as the Connoisseur of tea as he was the first one to introduce this drink to his people in the monastery at Belur Math.
