Mumbai: The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Break the Bias’. But then like some men, who knew Flipkart, can also be misogynistic. At least, that’s what their promotional message on International Women’s Day sounded. Otherwise, whose idea was it to promote kitchen appliances on women’s day? Flipkart seriously needs to change their marketing professionals and copywriters.
It’s 2022, and Flipkart still thinks women belongs to the kitchen. At least, their promotional message suggested that. “Dear Customer, This Women’s Day, let’s celebrate You. Get Kitchen Appliances from ₹299,” a promotional text message from the e-commerce company read on International Women’s Day.
But the message backfired and the netizens called out the e-commerce giant for stereotyping women with cooking and kitchen. The e-commerce platform has apologized for their marketing strategy after facing a huge backlash on social media.
“We messed up and we are sorry,” the e-commerce company wrote on Twitter. “We did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments and apologise for the Women’s Day message shared earlier,” Flipkart tweeted an apology.
Here are some of the comments of netizens after the e-commerce platform posted the women’s day message.
