To enhance the interface between the Girls/Women and the Police, Howrah City Police has started the initiative called Police-Girlchild Interface Project. Today Commissioner of Police, Howrah City Police, Shri Gaurav Sharma along with some other senior officers of the Howrah City Police flagged off the project from Howrah Police station.
In this Project, girls from various schools have been taken for a visit to the local police stations where they were briefed about the basic working of the police units, their legal rights and grievance redressal mechanisms. A briefing on ‘Swayamsiddha’ was provided.
Along with this, police units organised sensitization towards problems and issues so to help them undertake the best possible efforts to address them.
Working of Police station, the Rights of Girlchild and Laws regarding protection and Empowerment of Girlchild like POCSO, Domestic Violence Act etc were briefed.
Also helpline numbers /toll-free numbers ‘100’ and ‘1091’ and SoS on our Android App, Howrah City Police were shared.
The project is an ongoing step to empower the Girlchild of rights and aware of safety.
