‘INSPIRATION’- Empowering Budding Women Entrepreneurs

Women entrepreneurship can take place in a big way through rise in rural production. Government of West Bengal has rolled out schemes such as MUKTIDHARA, SWAMI VIVEKANANANDA scheme, providing two cows per individual and so on toward this end, utilizing which women in our state can engage in activities to increase rural production which in turn shall boost empowerment in a great way- stated Mr. Sadhan Pande, Hon’ble Minister, Department of Self Help Group & Self Employment, Government of West Bengal. Mr. Pande also informed that the State Government has decided to give a total of INR 5,000 crore to self-help groups (SHG) across the state. Mentioning of the upcoming SABALA mela and other fairs across the state, the Hon’ble Minister said that if anyone starts a small business, the fairs are becoming a huge help to market the products. The Ministry has established carpet weaving centres in Malda and is also establishing units to take care of packaging requirements of products that the made by small businesses in the state. This will give a huge fillip to the marketing of products produced by small entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs in the state.

Also the Department of SHGs is handing out kits to women who are undertaking Government sponsored beautician training from designated centers, thereby taking care of their investment needs for becoming self employed.

Ms Vandana Yadav, IAS, Managing Director, West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation mentioned of the Bengal Innovation Business Acceleration centre and stated that small innovative businesses can take help of this centre to scale up their businesses. Boosting the spirit of entrepreneurship and explaining the role of self care, Ms Minu Budhia, Psychotherapist & Counselor, Founder & Director – Caring Minds, ICanFlyy, Café ICANFLYY stated that the key to women empowerment is to believe in oneself and accept the flaws. Rejuvenating the crowd with a much positive speech, Ms Usha Uthup, Playback Singer discussed about her journey and urged women to make their limitations their strength.
