Kareena Kapoor Khan to make OTT debut with Sujoy Ghosh’s Netflix film

Mumbai: A day after Shah Rukh Khan announced he is coming up with his own OTT platform, here comes some exciting news for Kareena Kapoor Khan fans. The Bollywood diva is all set to make her digital debut with a Netflix film, directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

A screen adaptation of Japanese author Keigo Higashino’s acclaimed work, The Devotion of Suspect X, the Netflix project also stars Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat of Paatal Lok fame.

Kareena Kapoor Khan took to social media to share the news with her fans. “And so it begins… 12th Street Entertainment and Northern Lights Films in association with Boundscript and Kross Pictures present a Netflix Original directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Produced by Jay Shewakramani and Akshai Puri. Produced by Sujoy Ghosh and Thomas Kim.”

Talking about the film, Kareena Kapoor Khan said “it’s the beginning of an electrifying journey.” “I can’t wait to begin work on this exciting project. It’s one that has all the right ingredients… a great story, a visionary director and a super talented cast and crew, I’m really looking forward to working with Sujoy, Jaideep, and Vijay. It’s the beginning of an electrifying journey and I can’t wait for audiences worldwide to see this global bestseller book come to life,” she said in a statement.

For the Kahaani filmmaker, Devotion is “probably the best love story” he has ever read. “To get a chance to adapt it into a film is such an honor. Also, I get a chance to work with Kareena, Jaideep and Vijay. What more can one ask for,” Ghosh said.

Excited about the film, the producers, Jay Shewakramani, Akshai Puri, Ghosh and Thomas Kim said, “Kareena has always been a star performer across regardless of the format, shade or genre. Her digital debut is going to be an exciting project for us all. And of course, Jaideep and Vijay are spectacular actors and will definitely bring their own skillset to the table. We are excited to collaborate with Netflix for this project. The storyline of the book is gripping and we are looking forward to the film adaptation to go on floors.”

National Award-winning cinematographer Avik Mukhopadhyay, who has worked on Gulabo Sitabo, Sardar Udham, October and Kill Dil, will helm the camera department in Kareena’s digital debut.
