Kolkata: Life comes a full circle for Bengali actor Soham Chakraborty. He started his career as Master Bittu, a child actor in Bengali film industry. Quite popular as a child actor, he went onto do even Satyajit Ray’s film, Shakha Proshakha in 1990. Now, when he turned producer in 2022, Soham made sure he returns where it all started. So, his debut Bengali production, Kolkatar Harry, is essentially a children film, which has a bunch of child actors.
Recently, the trailer of the film was launched where actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, West Bengal minister Sashi Panja and HIDCO chairman Debasish Sen were present.
Prosenjit, who also makes a guest appearance in the film, is proud how far Soham has reached in his career. Having started as a child actor, Soham then proved himself to be a bankable star at the box office and now, he has ventured in production. “Young actors like Jeet, Dev and Soham are producing movies, which is a positive sign for the Bengali film industry. I have a brief role in the film. Kolkatar Harry is a children’s film, which today is rarely produced,” said the superstar.
Prosenjit also praised debutant director Rajdeep Ghosh, who has also acted in several films including Bollo Dugga Maiki, Cheeni and Khaad. “He has assisted Kaushik Ganguly for the longest time, so it was evident that Rajdeep is talented,” said Prosenjit.
Kolkatar Harry is about a pool car driver, Harinath Patra, who has a knack for storytelling. A fan of the Harry Potter series, he also has the hobby of showing magic tricks on the streets of Kolkata. On the other hand there is a 10-year-old girl Titli who avails Harinath’s pool car to school. Titli and Harinath share a rare kind of friendship, full of magic and stories of a wonderland.
The film also stars Priyanka Sarkar, Laboni Sarkar and Arindam Ganguly in pivotal roles.
Jeet Gannguli is elated to have composed the music for a children-centric film for the first time. Priyanka believes that Kolkatar Harry has all the ingredients to take the audience on the nostalgic ride back to childhood.
Soham is happy that the trailer has found acceptance among the audience. “Kolkatar Harry will be an enjoyable and emotional ride for kids and adults. It will make everyone revisit their childhood days,” he said.
