When was the last time you had your heart broken? There’s an Anupam Roy song for every occasion. On Valentine’s Day, can there be love without music? Anupam Roy’s ‘Putul Ami’, will mend your broken heart on V-Day. The song is in collaboration with India’s premier record label Saregama, for whom Anupam will be releasing four songs in a year.
For the last two years, Anupam has been releasing a song on Valentine’s Day. Last year, he brought together Love Aaj Kal Porshu pair Arjun Chakraborty and Madhumita Chakraborty in ‘Amar Chalaki’.
In 2022, he has got the real-life couple of Riddhi Sen and Surangana Bandopadhyay in the music video. ‘Putul Aami’ narrates the story of a boy who has been ‘friend zoned’. The video also features Anupam, and he is seen crooning to ‘Chhure phele de amay, kachhe tene ne amay….putul ami (push me away or draw me closer, I’m a puppet in your hands)’, standing in a room full of mannequins. The parallel story features a doll maker (Surangana) who is constantly trying to create a doll of her ideal man. Meanwhile, the boy-next-door (Riddhi), who is in love with her, is always waiting for her to notice him. Does the couple unite?

“Putul Ami is a coming-of-age love song where a partner keeps getting hurt. One partner doesn’t know about the other’s position in their life. The strings are in someone else’s hand,” said the ‘Amake Amar Moto Thakte Dao’ singer.
Saregama is positive about their contribution to the Bengali music industry. Vikram Mehra, MD, Saregama India Ltd, said, “We are betting big on regional tunes and stories. Taking a leap in the Bengali music space, we look forward to this long-term association with Anupam Roy, who I believe is one of the greatest present-day Bengali musicians. We hope to create music that passes on for generations to come with Anupam.”
Directed by Abhirup Ghose, ‘Putul Ami’ released today on the YouTube channel of Saregama. The song will be available on all leading OTT platforms: Spotify, JioSaavn, Resso, Gaana, Wynk, Hungama etc.
