Digitization has transformed regular spaces all over the world. In domains like education, there have been significant approaches in this regard. In India, there have been numerous initiatives which are promising and sustainable at the same time. Chetna Vasishth’s ChetChat has been a revelation in this regard. In fact, ChetChat is India’s largest online chat show in the career and education space with 200 videos, 120,000 subscribers and over 5M views. All credit goes to Chetna Vasishth for her commitment toward providing authentic career guidance to the nation’s youth.
Notably, Chetna had a brilliantly glittering journey in education. After completing a BA (Hons) in Economics, she went for an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur (Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations) in 1992. She was ranked second in the institute based on overall performance and was also awarded the Gold medal for the best performance in the field of Economics. Chetna was also a rank holder in Delhi University.
She worked in ANZ Grindlays Bank and Standard Chartered Bank for 10 years in various positions of Sales and Business Development in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. She was heading the Sales team of the Corporate and Institutional Bank for Standard Chartered Bank in Bangalore in 2002. Chetna’s vast teaching experience at the top business schools motivated her regarding ChetChat. From 2001 to 2007, she held positions at some of the leading business schools such as Visiting Faculty in the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, and Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM), Mumbai.
In 2007, she set up a Training and Management Consultancy firm — Learning Tree. She has managed and spearheaded this company for eight years. Learning Tree has a client base of more than 20 leading Financial Sector Banks and financial institutions e.g. HDFC Bank, BNP Paribas, DBS Bank, Barclays Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IDBI Bank, RBS Bank, Societe Generale, Deutsche Bank, ICICI Securities, Aditya Birla Money Markets, Principal PNB, BDO Haribhakti Consultants, Edelweiss Capital, Karvy Private Wealth and India Infoline.
A TEDx speaker, Chetna’s decision to come up with ChetChat was indeed an interesting decision. In her own words, “I am strongly passionate about providing education, training and career guidance to the youth. ChetChat is a perfect platform for such. I am truly indebted to my followers and subscribers. It has been a wonderful journey”.
No doubt, Chetna Vasishth’s digital efforts have been a great boon to learners. ChetChat has effectively minimized the urban-rural divide. One can only hope that in the coming days ChetChat will keep on motivating young minds.
