Ministry of Tribal Affairs goes digital for mentoring tribal youths in the country

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with Facebook has recently launched a digitally enabled mentorship Programme GOAL (Going Online As Leaders) for mentoring tribal youths in the country. The programme is a digitally enable mentorship initiative which aims at providing capacity building of tribal youths. The core areas of this programme are digital literacy, life skills and leadership and entrepreneurship.

The programme aims to mentor 5000 youth from tribal communities with the help of 2500 expert mentors who will be leaders from industry, arts, politics, business, etc. The selected mentees will be given a smart phone with internet access for 1 year and study material in digital format. Each mentor will be assigned two mentees and mentor will connect and guide the mentee through online mechanism. The programme will run for 9 months where weekly sessions will be conducted for first 7 months followed by internship opportunity for 2 months in a reputed organisation based on skill sets of mentees.

In this regard, applications from prospective Mentees and Mentors have been invited and the last date for receipt of application is July 14, 2020. To apply and for any other important communication, interested candidates can log in to the dedicated portalgoal.tribal.gov.in.
