Kolkata: Missionaries of Charity, which was established by Mother Teresa as a Catholic religious congregation in 1950, gets its new Superior General after 13 years.
According to media reports, Sister Joseph has become the new Superior General on Saturday thus replacing Sister Prema, who was at the helm for the last 13 years.
“The decision was taken on Saturday night and Sister Joseph is the new Superior General,” said Sunita Kumar, spokesperson, as quoted by The Telegraph.
Earlier Sister Joseph was the Regional Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity in Kerala, Kumar added.

Sister Joseph is the third Superior General in Missionaries of Charity, which is now a Catholic Church, since the death of Mother Teresa in 1997.
After Mother Teresa, Sister Nirmala was the Superior General who was succeeded by Sister Prema in 2009.
