Guwahati: Assam chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma conferred the “Assam Baibhav”, the state’s highest civilian award, on veteran businessman and Tata Trust Chairman Ratan Tata at a function held in Taj Wellington Mews in Mumbai.

Ratan Tata, who is the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, has been given the award for his “exceptional contribution towards furthering cancer care in Assam”.

The “Assam Baibhav” Award” carries a citation, a medal and a cash amount of Rs 5 lakh.
