Kyiv: A Sikh youth offers langar to international students in war-hit Ukraine. The stranded students from different countries were travelling on a train towards the Poland border. The video has gone viral. Russia invaded Ukraine on Thursday.
The video was shared on Twitter by Khalsa Aid group CEO Ravinder Singh. He wrote: ” #Ukraine: Guru Ka Langar on a train These guys were fortunate to get on this train which is travelling east of Ukraine to the west (to Polish border ). Hardeep Singh has been providing Langar and assistance to many students from different countries.What a guy.”

Indian Embassy in Ukraine has a message
Meanwhile, in a fresh advisory, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine on Saturday urged Indian nationals, especially students, not to move to the border posts for evacuation without prior coordination with MEA officials.

It said the Embassy is “finding it increasingly difficult to help the crossing of those Indian nationals who reach border checkpoints without prior Intimation”.
The advisory read: “All Indian citizens in Ukraine are advised not to move to any of the border posts without prior coordination with Government of India officials at the border posts (helpline numbers established) and the Emergency numbers of Embassy of India, Kyiv.
“The situation at various border checkpoints is sensitive and the Embassy is working continuously with our Embassies in our neighbouring countries for coordinated evacuation of our citizens.

“The Embassy is finding it increasingly difficult to help the crossing of those Indian nationals who reach border checkpoints without prior intimation,” read the statement.
It urged the Indians to stay in the western cities of Ukraine, which are relatively safer rather than move to the border points on their own.
“Please note, staying in western cities of Ukraine with access of water, food, accommodation and basic amenities is relatively safer and advisable compared to reaching border check points without being fully abreast of the situation.”
On the hundreds of Indians stranded in the eastern parts of Ukraine, including Kharkiv that is near the border with Russia, the Embassy advised them to remain where they are until further instructions are issued.
“All those currently in the eastern sector are requested to continue to remain in their current places of residence until further instructions, maintain calm, and stay indoors or in shelters as much as possible, with whatever food, water and amenities available and remain patient. Avoid unnecessary movement.”
“We once again remind you to exercise caution at all times, be aware of your surroundings and the recent developments,” it said.
On Friday, several Indian students and their families reached out to the Indian authorities posting videos on social media of their predicament, as they were stuck in underground bomb bunkers or subway stations with water and food running out.
