‘Safe Drive Save Life’- Road Safety Awareness Initiative By The Howrah City Police

Today on behalf of Howrah City Police a Road Safety Awareness Program on the banner of Safe Drive Save Life has been organized by Dasnagar Traffic Guard followed by following activities:-

 

The Road Safety Traffic Awareness Programme in association with ‘Safe Drive Save Life’, was organized for creating awareness amongst all, regarding several road safety rules.

 

1.Awareness programme at Ichapur Water Tank crossing on Drainage Canal Road.

The road safety awareness programme was presided over by several police officers and constables from the Howrah City Police.

G, SI Harun Khetrapal of Bantra STG, SI Tapomay Chatterjee of Liluah STG, SI Tulu Dhul of Dasnagar STG and ASIs, Constables, CVs, THGs were present during the programme.

a) The programme saw the participation of several offending drivers whose driving Licenses have been revoked due to various reasons by the police.

This event was a mass awareness programme and it saw the participation of several auto-rickshaw drivers, bus drivers and pedestrians across the city.

b) THGs/CVs/LCVs and traffic officers were present to create awareness involving toto pullers, mc riders, and pedestrians to create awareness and make them aware about road safety rules and regulations so that they obey traffic rules, and obey road markings near crossings such as the use of zebra lines, stop lines, traffic lights etc.

c) The teams offered rose sticks to offenders especially school students, guardians those were found riding two-wheelers without wearing head gear, helmets and those who were found carrying excess riders on their vehicles etc.

 

A classroom awareness programme was organized to create mass awareness about road safety and regulations. Various teachers and students were present during the programme.

2. Class Room Awareness programme at Sri Durga Balika Vidyalay, PS. Bantra .

I, ACP Traffic-II, IC Dasnagar TG, SI Harun Khetrapal and team of Bantra STG was attending the programme.

a) The people attending the programme were briefed about various facets of road safety awareness, they were advised on how to commute safely and how to cross roads carefully. Apart from these, they were given briefings about several other road rules & regulations.

b) The police also advised the people regarding how to reduce road traffic and prevent accidents. They also asked people to remain careful during long journeys at night or early morning, since those are the peak times for road mishaps.

The Police Team discusses major issues with the audience through the audiovisual presentation.

c) Parents and Guardians should take responsibility for their kids, while they are commuting to and fro from schools via pool cars.

d)One of the major issues which affect many teenagers, adolescents and adults is drug and alcohol addiction. The police created awareness against the use of drugs & psychotropic substances etc which are harmful to their health.

e) The event witnessed the participation of around 60 ( sixty) students, teachers across the city.

f) In the end, the audience were given an audio-visual presentation and slide show of several activities and awareness-based campaigns were shown to the people.

The Police Team had prepared an audio-visual presentation and slide show of several activities for the audience to give a visual demonstration of road safety awareness.
