Still processing what happened: Chris Rock on Will Smith’s slap at Oscars

Comedian Chris Rock finally broke his silence days after the famous slapgate Will Smith incident at the Oscars 2022. He was performing a stand-up at Boston’s Wilbur Theater and he was greeted with a standing ovation.

“How was your weekend?” Chris Rock asked the crowd. But the comedian said he did not have any jokes about the slap because he was “still kind of processing what happened,” Variety reported.

“At some point I’ll talk about that… and it will be serious and funny,” he said. Then, Rock said, “I’m going to tell some jokes. It’s nice to just be out.”

The incident started when Chris referred to Pinkett Smith’s shaved hairdo and said: “Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2.”

Smith walked up on the stage and appeared to hit the comedian on his face.

Following this, Smith went to the stage and hit Chris on the face. Smith returned to his seat and screamed from the audience, and said, “Keep my wife’s name out of your… mouth.”
