World Alzheimer’s Day: DocsApp flags-off #ErasedPages campaign to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that usually appears in individuals who are in their mid-60s.

On World Alzheimer’s Day (September 21), DocsApp, a 24×7 online doctors’ consultation platform, launched its latest campaign, #ErasedPages, to spread awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.

A brain disorder can be a frightening thought, especially when you, or your loved ones, are affected. Alzheimer’s is one such disease that impacts one’s memory and cognitive abilities. It afflicts one in 10 people over 65 years of age and nearly one-third of those over 85, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.

DocsApp’s #ErasedPages is a much-needed initiative that will create awareness about this disease across the nation. There are approximately four million Indians who cannot remember their own names. The campaign is aimed at spreading awareness about this deadly ailment, which has no cure till date. But, if the symptoms are identified in the early stages, medication and management strategies may temporarily stall the degeneration process. It can help your loved ones get the maximum benefit of the available treatments.

‘Family support & treatment help’

‘Alzheimer’s can affect one’s daily life severely. Over the years, doctors across the globe have been trying to find a cure for this debilitating disease. However, it’s possible to tackle it with adequate support from one’s family and treatment. Through our campaign, #ErasedPages, we want to spread the word about this incurable disease and break the stigma around it’

— Dr Yogesh Kataria, neurologist, DocsApp

At present, both Alzheimer’s disease and most causes of dementia have no cure and as a result, are irreversible.

‘Early detection & care a must’

‘At DocsApp, we’re constantly striving to make lives better by providing quality healthcare. There’s a lack of awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, which prevents timely detection and care. The root of #ErasedPages lies in our belief in building an ecosystem, where people can break their inhibitions and seek appropriate measures to lead a healthy life’

— Satish Kannan, Co-Founder and CEO, DocsApp
